Craft & Finishing

Highlights

  • Composition: 100% 90s mercerized merino wool, sourced from Australian merino fine-count top, fine fiber, thin scales, good skin-friendliness.
  • Specification: 48NM/2 semi-worsted high-count two-ply, even yarn, smooth yarn surface, moderate strength, low weaving loss.
  • Hand feel: after 90-count mercerizing treatment, the surface is smooth and sleek, no prickling or itching when worn against the skin, light and fluffy, full-bodied resilience.
  • Function: natural moisture absorption and breathability, light and warm; after mercerized shrink-resistant treatment, not easy to pill, machine-wash friendly, easy to care for.
  • Color fastness: eco-friendly reactive dyeing with strict color fixing, bright colors, stable batches; metallic yarn blended color range adds extra texture.

Recommended Flat-bed Gauge

  • Recommended: 14 gauge (14G) — flat fabric surface, moderate thickness, best showcases the fine texture of 48NM/2 semi-worsted.
  • Lightweight/fine gauge: 16 gauge (16G) — tight density, refined fit, suitable for ultra-thin spring/summer styles and close-fitting base layers.
  • Thick/loose: 12 gauge (12G) — fluffy fabric, better warmth retention, can be knitted with two ends of yarn for autumn/winter thick styles.
  • Tip: high-count wool yarn is soft and smooth; weaving tension should be moderate to slightly low; it is recommended to knit a swatch first to confirm density and shrinkage.

Washing & Finishing Steps

  1. 1Sorting and lot matching: sort by style number, color number and dye lot; wash same batch and same dye lot together to avoid color bleeding and color difference.
  2. 2Rinsing to remove sizing and stains: warm water below 30℃ + neutral detergent, gently remove loose fibers, oil stains and sizing; never use high temperature or alkaline agents.
  3. 3Softening/shrink-resistant finishing: add hydrophilic softener, combined with mercerized shrink-resistant properties to enhance pile hand feel, maintain dimensional stability.
  4. 4Dewatering and shaping: low-speed dewatering, wringing strictly prohibited, pre-shape the garment while damp to prevent wool yarn from wrinkling and deforming.
  5. 5Drying/shade drying: low-temperature drying or lay flat to dry in the shade until 80% dry, avoid high temperature and direct sunlight causing hardening, discoloration or shrinkage.
  6. 6Panel pressing: steam-press each garment panel once before sewing to eliminate curled edges and wrinkles; steam pressure should be low.
  7. 7Garment pressing: after sewing is completed, steam-press the whole garment once on a mannequin to set the shape, avoid directly pressing the pile surface.
  8. 8Re-pressing and final finishing: for easily wrinkled areas such as neckline, placket, hem and cuffs, press once more if possible to ensure flatness.
  9. 9Quality inspection and packaging: inspect dimensions, color difference, pilling, stains and pressing results; after passing, bag the garment, moth-proofing treatment is recommended.

Care Instructions

  • Washing: warm water below 30℃, select "wool/delicate" program; use wool-specific neutral detergent, avoid enzyme/bleach-containing ingredients.
  • Drying: after washing, gently press out water (never wring), lay flat to dry in the shade, avoid hanging in direct sunlight, high-temperature tumble drying and prolonged soaking.
  • Ironing: if ironing is needed, use a low-temperature steam iron, iron with a pressing cloth, avoid direct contact with the pile surface.
  • Storage: keep dry before storing, moth repellent strips may be placed, avoid heavy objects pressing and causing deformation.
