Spun Silk / Cotton Blend (55/45 · 30/70)

Spun silk brings natural lustre and soft drape; cotton keeps it kind to skin, breathable and durable. The 55/45 is glossier and smoother; the 30/70 is more substantial and better value. 48NM/2 and 60NM/2 give thin-but-opaque, cool-but-not-cold fabrics.

Craft & Finishing

Highlights

  • Composition: two blends, 55% spun silk / 45% cotton and 30% spun silk / 70% cotton; choose freely between high-silk feel and high-cotton feel by style and by price.
  • Specifications: two semi-worsted high-count yarns, 48NM/2 and 60NM/2; even yarn, smooth yarn body, smooth weaving, low loss.
  • Hand feel: spun silk brings natural silk luster and soft drape, cotton keeps it dry and skin-friendly;
  • smooth without being greasy, thin without being see-through.
  • Functions: moisture absorption and breathability, moisture-wicking and quick-drying, skin-friendly without itching, resistant to pilling, suitable for close-fitting wear in all seasons.
  • Color fastness: eco-friendly reactive dyeing with strict fixation, bright colors, stable batches.

Recommended Flat-bed Gauge

  • Main recommendation (48NM/2): 14 gauge (14G) — flat fabric surface, moderate thickness, balancing silk luster texture and body.
  • High-count fine gauge (60NM/2): 16 gauge (16G) — thinner and denser garment, suitable for ultra-thin spring/summer styles and close-fitting base layers.
  • Thick style / loose fit: 12 gauge (12G) — fabric is fluffy and thick, can be knitted with two-ply yarn feed for thick spring/autumn styles and outerwear.
  • Tip: spun silk cotton yarn body is smooth with low friction coefficient; weaving tension should be moderate and yarn feed steady to prevent dropped stitches and holes; it is recommended to knit a swatch first to confirm density and shrinkage.

Washing & Finishing Steps

  1. 1Sorting and lot matching: sort by style number, color number and dye lot difference, wash same batch and same dye lot together to avoid color bleeding and color difference.
  2. 2Desizing and stain removal in clean water: warm water below 30℃ + neutral or weakly acidic detergent, gently remove floating fibers, oil stains and sizing; strictly avoid alkaline (spun silk loses luster and becomes brittle in alkali).
  3. 3Softening finish: add hydrophilic softener to restore the smooth hand feel and natural luster of spun silk, avoid high-temperature long-time treatment.
  4. 4Dewatering and setting: low-speed dewatering, strictly no wringing, pre-set the shape while wet to prevent high-count yarn from wrinkling and deforming.
  5. 5Drying / drying in the shade: low-temperature drying or lay flat to dry in the shade to 80%, avoid high-temperature sunlight exposure causing yellowing, hardening or shrinkage.
  6. 6Panel pressing: steam-press each garment panel once before sewing to remove curled edges and wrinkles; steam pressure should be low to avoid pressing out shine.
  7. 7Garment pressing: after sewing is completed, steam-press the whole garment once on a dress form to set the shape, avoid directly pressing the yarn surface.
  8. 8Re-pressing and fine finishing: press easily wrinkled parts such as neckline, placket, hem and cuffs once more as much as possible to ensure flatness.
  9. 9Quality inspection and packaging: inspect size, color difference, pilling, snagging, stains and pressing effect; after passing, bag them, moisture-proof treatment is recommended.

Care Instructions

  • Washing: warm water below 30℃, use neutral detergent, hand wash or washing machine "wool/delicate" program; avoid alkaline detergents, avoid bleaching, avoid prolonged soaking.
  • Drying: after washing, gently press out water (never wring), lay flat to dry in the shade, avoid hanging in direct sunlight and high-temperature tumble drying.
  • Ironing: medium-low temperature steam iron, iron with a pressing cloth, avoid direct high-temperature pressing that damages silk luster.
  • Storage: fold flat, keep dry and ventilated; avoid long-term hanging that stretches and deforms shoulders.
