Craft & Finishing

Highlights

  • Composition: 55% ultra-fine linen + 45% long-staple cotton; the crispness of linen and the softness of cotton complement each other, balancing texture and comfort.
  • Specification: 50NM/2 high-count two-ply; the yarn is fine and smooth, with evenness and good strength, low weaving loss and a delicate fabric surface.
  • Handfeel: the linen is ultra-fine treated, greatly reducing itchiness; long-staple cotton fibers are fine, long and soft, cool against the skin without prickle.
  • Breathability: linen is naturally hollow and moisture-wicking, dissipating heat quickly; dry and non-sticky in summer, with a degree of natural antibacterial property.
  • Style: the yarn has linen's characteristic natural slubs and slight luster; garments are crisp and well-shaped, with strong texture, softening with each wash.

Recommended Flat-bed Gauge

  • Recommended: 16 gauge (16G) — the best match for 50NM/2 high-count fine yarn, giving a fine, smooth, light and breathable fabric surface.
  • Light/thin gauge: 18 gauge (18G) — denser and more refined in shape, suitable for ultra-thin spring/summer styles and close-fitting base layers.
  • Thick/loose: 14 gauge (14G) — two-ply yarn feed, fabric is thick and crisp, for regular sweaters and cardigans.
  • Note: linen-cotton yarn has weaker resilience than pure wool yarn; tension should be on the low side, avoid over-stretching; linen tends to fuzz, so yarn guide parts must be smooth. It is recommended to knit a swatch first to confirm density, shrinkage and handfeel.

Washing & Finishing Steps

  1. 1Sorting and batch matching: sort by style number, color number and dye lot, wash same batch and same dye lot together to avoid color bleeding and color difference.
  2. 2Desizing and stain removal in clean water: warm water below 40℃ + neutral detergent, gently remove loose fibers, oil stains and sizing; never use strong alkali or chlorine bleach.
  3. 3Softening finish: add hydrophilic softener (silicone-based/fatty acid-based) to improve the linen handfeel, making the fabric surface soft and reducing itchiness; the cotton component feels softer after absorbing moisture.
  4. 4Dewatering and setting: low-speed dewatering, wringing strictly prohibited, pre-set the shape while wet to prevent the linen-cotton fabric from wrinkling and deforming.
  5. 5Drying/shade drying: low-temperature drying or lay flat in the shade to 80% dry; avoid high temperature and direct sun, to prevent linen from yellowing and losing strength.
  6. 6Panel pressing: steam-press each garment panel once before sewing to remove curled edges and wrinkles; linen is best ironed damp with moderate steam pressure.
  7. 7Garment pressing: after sewing is complete, steam-press the whole garment once on a dress form to set the shape, avoid prolonged direct pressing which causes shine.
  8. 8Re-pressing and finishing: press easily wrinkled areas such as neckline, placket, hem and cuffs once more where possible, to ensure a flat and crisp finish.
  9. 9Quality inspection and packaging: inspect size, color difference, fuzzing, stains and pressing effect; after passing, bag the item, taking care to store it moisture-proof.

Care Instructions

  • Washing: 30–40℃ warm water, select the "cotton-linen/gentle" program; use neutral detergent, avoid bleach and strong alkaline ingredients.
  • Drying: after washing, gently press out water (never wring), lay flat or dry in the shade; avoid hanging in direct sun, which causes deformation and yellowing.
  • Ironing: iron at medium temperature when 70% dry, ironing with a pressing cloth works better; linen's natural wrinkles are also part of the style, so full flatness need not be forced.
  • Storage: keep dry before storing, fold flat, avoid long-term hanging which stretches and deforms, and avoid pressure from heavy objects.
