Craft & Finishing

Highlights

  • Composition: 20% ultra-fine linen + 80% long-staple cotton blend, combining the crispness and body of linen with the fineness and softness of long-staple cotton.
  • Process: the linen-cotton blended yarn is not milled; soft finishing is used instead; fibers are evenly arranged, the yarn body is fine and clean, with a clear, translucent texture.
  • Specifications: 85NM/3 ultra-high count three-ply, the yarn is extremely fine with even, clean yarn evenness; the knitted panel is light, delicate yet crisp with body.
  • Hand feel: dry and smooth, skin-friendly and non-sticky, moisture-absorbing and quick-drying; linen provides a natural cool sensation, long-staple cotton provides softness and closeness to the body.
  • Performance: breathable and heat-dissipating, moisture-absorbing and sweat-wicking, good wrinkle resistance and body; linen fiber is naturally antibacterial and antimicrobial, suitable for all seasons.

Recommended Flat-bed Gauge

  • Recommended: 16 gauge (16G) — matches 85NM/3 three-ply, the fabric surface is fine and tight, light and translucent, for spring/summer lightweight sweaters.
  • Fine/lightweight: 18 gauge (18G) — single-ply or reduced-ply feeding, for extremely fine and lightweight styles, underwear and accessories.
  • Thick/coarse gauge: 14 gauge (14G) — multiple plies knitted together, the fabric is thick and crisp with a clear silhouette, suitable for outerwear and coarse-gauge pieces (12G requires plying).
  • Note: linen-cotton yarn has more hairiness and stiffer fibers; winding and yarn guide components must be kept smooth and clean to reduce friction and fuzzing; tension should be on the low side, yarn feeding smooth, to prevent yarn breakage and abrasion. Knit a swatch before machine knitting to confirm density, shrinkage and hand feel.

Washing & Finishing Steps

  1. 1Sorting and batch matching: sort by style number, color number and dye lot, wash the same batch and same dye lot together, to avoid color bleeding and color difference caused by differences in linen-cotton dye absorption.
  2. 2Rinsing to remove sizing and soil: warm water below 40℃ + neutral detergent, gently remove loose fibers, oil stains and weaving sizing; cotton-linen must avoid strong alkali and chlorine bleach, to prevent fiber damage and yellowing.
  3. 3Soft finishing: linen-cotton is not milled, it goes directly into soft finishing; add softener or hydrophilic silicone oil to eliminate the rough, stiff, prickly feel of linen and enhance a smooth, fluffy hand feel.
  4. 4Dewatering and setting: low-speed dewatering, avoid wringing and violent friction, pre-set the shape while damp, to prevent wrinkling and deformation of the fabric surface.
  5. 5Drying/shade drying: low-temperature drying or lay flat to dry in the shade to 80% dry; avoid high-temperature sun exposure, to prevent cotton-linen yellowing and loss of strength.
  6. 6Panel ironing: iron each garment panel once before sewing, iron with moisture at medium temperature; setting while damp gives the best result.
  7. 7Garment ironing: after sewing is completed, steam-press the whole garment once on a mannequin to set; cotton-linen should be ironed with moisture, avoid prolonged dry pressing which causes shine.
  8. 8Re-ironing and fine finishing: iron the easily wrinkled parts such as neckline, placket, hem and cuffs once more, to ensure a flat, crisp finish and clean lines.
  9. 9Quality inspection and packaging: inspect dimensions, color difference, snags, stains and ironing results; after passing, bag the items, taking care to store them against moisture.

Care Instructions

  • Washing: warm water below 40℃, neutral detergent; machine washable (select "cotton/linen" or "gentle" cycle) or hand wash; no bleaching or strong alkali.
  • Drying: after washing, gently press out water, lay flat or hang to dry in the shade; avoid direct sun exposure and prolonged hanging that causes stretching and deformation.
  • Ironing: iron at medium temperature with moisture; cotton-linen irons flatter when ironed while damp; avoid direct high-temperature pressing.
  • Storage: fold flat, keep dry and ventilated; in the plum rain season, take care against moisture and mildew.
