Craft & Finishing

Highlights

  • Composition: 90% Basolan / 10% cashmere; 70% Basolan / 30% cashmere, fine woolen surface, skin-friendly and soft.
  • Specifications: 26NM/2 woolen medium-count two-ply, fluffy woolen surface, full-bodied yarn, moderate strength, low knitting loss.
  • Hand feel: Basolan process finishing, soft and smooth woolen surface, soft and non-itchy against the skin, full-bodied resilience.
  • Functions: moisture-absorbing and breathable, light and warm, anti-shrink treatment for resistance to pilling, machine-wash friendly, easy care.
  • Color fastness: eco-friendly dyeing and strict color fixing, bright colors, stable batches, complete color ranges.
  • Applications: soft and fine sweaters, skin-friendly base layers, knitted dresses and light-luxury knitwear.

Recommended Flat-bed Gauge

  • Main recommendation 12 gauge (12G): firm fabric surface, full woolen surface, best suited to the 26NM/2 (2-ply 26 count) coarse-gauge positioning; knitting process convention "2-ply 26 count suits 12G flat-bed knitting machine", the first choice for autumn/winter sweaters.
  • Fine/tight 14 gauge (14G): denser, flat fabric surface, suitable for skin-friendly base layers and all-season styles (close to the applicable upper limit, trial knitting recommended first to confirm).
  • Coarse gauge/thick styles 9 gauge (9G) · 7 gauge (7G) two-ply yarn feed: fluffy fabric, better warmth retention, suitable for coarse-gauge autumn/winter sweaters and fancy stitches.
  • Tip: woolen-type yarns are fluffy and soft, knitting tension should be moderate to slightly low; 26NM/2 is on the coarse side, above 14G the fabric surface becomes sparse, 16G is not recommended, trial swatches recommended first to confirm density and shrinkage.

Washing & Finishing Steps

  1. 1Sorting and lot matching: sort by style number, color number and dye lot difference, wash same batch and same dye lot together, avoid color bleeding and color difference.
  2. 2Rinsing to remove sizing and stains: warm water below 30℃ + neutral detergent, gently remove loose fibers, oil stains and sizing; never use high temperature or alkaline agents.
  3. 3Softening/anti-shrink finishing: add hydrophilic softener, combined with Basolan anti-shrink properties to enhance the woolen hand feel, maintain dimensional stability.
  4. 4Dewatering and setting: low-speed dewatering, wringing strictly prohibited, pre-shape the panels while damp to prevent wrinkling and deformation.
  5. 5Drying/shade drying: low-temperature drying or lay flat to dry in the shade to 80%, avoid high temperature and direct sunlight causing the woolen surface to harden, discolor or shrink.
  6. 6Panel pressing: steam-press each garment panel once before sewing to eliminate curled edges and wrinkles; steam pressure should be low.
  7. 7Garment pressing: after sewing is completed, steam-press the whole garment once on a mannequin to set the shape, avoid pressing directly on the woolen surface.
  8. 8Re-pressing and finishing: for easily wrinkled areas such as neckline, placket, hem and cuffs, press once more if possible to ensure flatness.
  9. 9Quality inspection and packaging: inspect dimensions, color difference, pilling, stains and pressing results, bag after passing inspection, moth-proofing treatment recommended.

Care Instructions

  • Washing: warm water below 30℃, select "wool/delicate" program; use wool-specific neutral detergent, avoid enzyme/bleach-containing ingredients.
  • Ironing: if ironing is needed, use a low-temperature steam iron, iron with a pressing cloth, avoid direct contact with the woolen surface.
  • Drying: after washing gently press out water (never wring), lay flat to dry in the shade, avoid hanging in direct sunlight, high-temperature tumble drying and prolonged soaking.
  • Storage: keep dry before storing, moth repellent strips may be placed, avoid heavy objects pressing and causing deformation.
